The fourth annual Isthmus Indie Awards honor Madison movers and shakers, awarding creativity, innovation, sustainability and bold leadership. Winners were announced in eight different categories, with Michael Fenchel of 100state taking the honor for the “Dane and Beyond” category.
100state helps Madison entrepreneurs put ideas into action. They also host “problem-solving soirees” in which groups gather to brainstorm and troubleshoot tough issues facing Madison. Fenchel’s role and more perspective related to the award are featured here.

The growing coworking movement in Madison was featured in the Wisconsin State Journal. Coworking in Madison has continued to gain steam, with existing coworking spaces expanding and new ones forming. The article focuses extensively on the role coworking plays in the startup community, why the spaces are so valuable, and also highlights some of the companies currently working out of spaces.

2. You work in teams to come up with great ideas and solutions and get to know other entrepreneurs while having fun and working your magic together.
3. 20 minutes later, we switch you to a new problem with a new group, and repeat. Following the event, 100state will help you or others implement the best solutions that come up!
We’ll have pizza from Ian’s at 7, refreshments and drinks throughout, and at 9 we’ll transition into a night of music and mingling.
